Israel plans PPP tender for up to 500 MW solar
September 19 – Israel will hold a tender for a solar project of up to 500 MW to be built near the city of Dimona in the Negev desert, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said on Monday.
The winner in the tender build the solar photovoltaic (PV) complex under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. It will design, finance, build, operate and maintain the power generation capacity for a defined period. After that the assets will become state-owned.
The ministry said details on the pre-qualification round will be available in the coming months.
Meanwhile, the MoF said 10 companies have pre-qualified to compete in a tender, to take place in the fourth quarter of 2016, for a 40-MW solar project in near Ashalim in Negev. That park has to be up and running by end-2018.
