January 5 – Indian government-owned salt production company Hindustan Salts Ltd is seeking expressions of intent for the development of two 100-MW solar projects, one in the state of Gujarat and one in Rajasthan.
The company proposes to contribute only the land needed for the projects and is looking for partners to develop and operate the solar power plants. The developers are to provide the investment for the installation and secure the needed approvals and power purchase agreements (PPAs). The power generated is to be sold in the market and the revenue generated shared by the salt producer and the solar partner. Responses should therefore include a proposed revenue sharing model.
Submissions are due by January 19.
The Expression of Intent invitation was issued last week. The one for the Rajasthan project, to be located at Sambhar lake, comes from Hindustan Salts’ subsidiarity Sambhar Salts.
