India tops 5 GW of installed solar capacity
January 15 – India’s installed solar power capacity has surpassed the 5,000-MW mark on Thursday, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced today.
On January 14, the Asian nation’s cumulative installed solar capacity reached 5,130 MW, with 1,385 MW commissioned since April 2015, when India’s current fiscal year began. The country’s target for the current year is 2,000 MW.
The following table shows India’s top 5 states when it comes to installed solar capacity.
India’s goal is to have 100 GW of cumulative solar power capacity installed by 2021/22 under the National Solar Mission. This includes 60 GW of ground-mounted plants and 40 GW of rooftop installations.
