Heraeus gets good news for conductive paste patent in China
December 31 – The Chinese Patent Reexamination Board (PRB) has confirmed the validity of Chinese patent 201010529562.7 for a conductive paste, developed by Heraeus, which is used in the making of photovoltaics (PV).
The PRB at the State Intellectual Property Office has also dismissed an invalidation action filed in June 2015 related to the Chinese patent.
The patent patent refers to a paste having a low dependence on firing temperature, making a precise control of the firing temperature unnecessary. This allows an easy fire-through control, achieving a stable ohmic contact even without the presence of lead-oxide in the glass frit, the Heraeus Photovoltaics Global Business Unit explained.
This summer, the Heraeus Holding GmbH subsidiary initiated legal action in Taipei against Taiwanese firm Giga Solar Materials Corp in relation to patent violation. More specifically, the German company claims that Giga Solar pastes for crystalline solar cells violate the I432539 patent.
