Guangdong East Power wins 100-MW PV plant job in Xinjiang
February 27 – Chinese battery backup maker Guangdong East Power Co Ltd (SHE:300376) said Friday it will build a 100-MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant for state-owned Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC).
The ground-mounted solar farm will require a total investment of approximately CNY 1 billion (USD 160m/EUR 142m). The company has already signed a framework agreement with XPCC Sixth Agricultural Division, part of the semi-military organisation, which is located in Changji Hui autonomous prefecture.
Phase one of the scheme envisages the installation of a 30-MW facility, worth CNY 300 million. Guangdong East Power will start constructing it immediately after obtaining all relevant approvals throughout March and April 2015. Grid-connection is scheduled for the end of the current year.
The two sides have not yet signed a definitive agreement, Guangdong East Power pointed out. The move is part of XPCC’s strategy to reduce its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions through the utilisation of the available renewable energy resources.
Guangdong East Power makes uninterrupted power supply (UPS) devices, solar inverters and batteries.
