France’s AFD to finance Bolivian solar wind projects

November 10 – The Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) will finance solar and wind power projects worth USD 175 million (EUR 163.8m) in Bolivia until 2017, Bolivian economy minister Luis Arce said on Monday.
The official mentioned a solar park in the Oruro department and a solar-wind facility in Warnes, Santa Cruz, which will require USD 125 million and USD 50 million, respectively.
Oruro’s governor, Victor Vasquez, has recently announced a plan for the installation of a 50-MW photovoltaic plant, equivalent to 61% of the local power consumption.
The agreement with AFD, which will open an office in Bolivia, is for a total USD 435 million between 2015 and 2017, including hydroelectric, waste water treatment and irrigation projects as well, Arce said, quoted by Bolivian news agency ABI. The minister is part of a delegation accompanying President Evo Morales on a visit to Germany, France, Italy and Ireland.
