France issues 120-MW solar RfP for small systems
March 18 – The French government on Tuesday issued a Request for Proposals (RfP) for the construction of 120 MW of photovoltaic (PV) parks, aiming to revive the country’s solar market.
The RfP will be divided in three phases of 40 MW each and will involve projects with capacities of between 100 kW and 250 kW. Winners in the competition will be selected based on the project’s environmental impact and price, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development said in a press release.
Interested parties will be able to apply for the first phase by September 21, 2015.
The RfP was launched after consultations with domestic solar industry players, whose suggestions were gathered by energy regulator Commission de Regulation de l’Energie (CRE). It is in line with the French government’s efforts to source over 23% of its total energy from renewables by 2020 and 32% by 2030.
