Enfinity to wrap up 28.6-MWp Philippine solar plant in Q1 2016 – report

September 14 – Belgian solar developer Enfinity NV expects to complete a 28.6-MWp photovoltaic (PV) farm in Digos, the Philippine province of Davao del Sur, by the first quarter of 2016, The Manila Times said Sunday, citing a company official.
After receiving a “notice to proceed” by Department of Energy (DOE), the company has now advanced it to full construction, according to the report. The scheme requires an investment of roughly PHP 2 billion (USD 43m/EUR 38m).
About a month ago, Enfinity Philippines Renewable Resourses Inc selected Indian firm Sterling & Wilson Ltd as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project. The latter company, part of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group of Companies, will use 310-Wp Hanwha solar modules. Meanwhile, Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (MIESCOR) will serve as the local partner for the job.
The commissioning of the PV park will precede the periods of peak demand during the hottest days of the summer, Enfinity Asia Pacific business development director, William Ruccius, was quoted as saying. It will help offset at least in part the decline in hydropower generation and delays in planned thermal power projects.
Enfinity is in talks with electric cooperatives in Mindanao for a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the second 15-MWp phase of its Digos solar farm and other projects.
