Enel ready with 160-MW solar park in Chile’s Antofagasta

May 27 – Enel Green Power Chile Ltda has finished work on and connected to the grid the 160-MW Finis Terrae solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Antofagasta, parent company Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) said today.

The project in the municipality of Maria Elena represents a total investment of USD 270 million (EUR 242m), financed through Enel’s own resources.

The park is estimated to produce over 400 GWh annually, or as much as 198,000 Chilean homes consume. The output will be sold under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) and fed into Chile’s Northern Region Transmission Network, SING (Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande).

Enel in Chile now has 430 MW of operational PV parks, 364 MW of wind farms and 92 MW of hydro capacity. It also has 300 MW of projects in progress.

GTM Research expects Chile to deploy about 4 GW of PV capacity in the period 2016-2020.
