Dubai 200 MW solar park gets halfway through construction
October 26 – Shuaa Energy 1, the lead investor and developer of the 200-MW second phase of the Mohammad bin Rashid Solar Park in Dubai, has completed about 50% of construction works on the project.
“Work on the project is on track to be completed by the initial timelines, with over one million solar panels installed to date,”Abdul Hamid Al Muhaidib, CEO of Shuaa Energy, said on Tuesday.
When completed, the solar park will comprise 2.3 million solar panels, whose electricity output will be sufficient to cover the needs of 30,000 homes in the emirate, according to developer calculations.
The 200-MW scheme is the second phase of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum solar park, which is planned to reach a total capacity of 5 GW by 2030. It is also the city’s first project to be delivered under the Independent Power Project (IPP) model.
