Denham Capital invests in Spanish renewables co Jenner
September 24 – Private equity firm Denham Capital has invested in Madrid-based Jenner Renewables Sarl, which looks to start developing wind, solar and small hydro projects in Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa.
Jenner Renewables is a renewable power producer founded and led by former Gamesa CEO Jorge Calvet. The company’s senior leadership also includes other former executives of the Spanish wind turbine maker and project developer. Together, they have worked on more than 4 GW of wind and solar installations around the world, Denham said.
“This investment allows us to expand our reach in Latin America, a region where we see a big demand for power generation and an attractive opportunity for renewable power,” said Scott Mackin, managing partner and co-president at Denham.
The private equity firm already supports one Latin America-focused renewables firm, namely Rio Energy of Brazil. The latter has 54 MW of operational assets and over 200 MW under construction across the region.
