Chile’s Feb renewables generation rises 25% y/y
March 16 – Chile’s renewable power generation rose 24.8% year-on-year to about 669 GWh last month and accounted for approximately 11.19% of the country’s total output.
The data comes from a report of the government’s sustainable energy centre Cifes published on Tuesday.
Biomass was the top renewable source with 197 GWh, or 29.42% of the total green output, followed by solar with a 25.36% share. More details on the renewable sources are available in the table below.
In February, the country’s environmental authorities gave the go-ahead to five new renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 825 MW.
According to the national renewable energy association Acera, Chile has the capacity to meet its goal to be fully green by 2050.
