Canadian Solar gets USD 41m for 9-MW PV park in Ontario
July 22 – Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) said Tuesday it has secured CAD 52.8 million (USD 40.7m/EUR 37.2m) in construction and term financing for its 9-MW Aria solar farm in Ontario’s township of Springwater.
The loan facility will be provided by The Manufacturers Life Insurance Co, according to the press release. It will be used entirely to support the solar project, which was developed by Canadian Solar and is currently under construction.
Upon completion in the fourth quarter of 2015, Canadian Solar will sell the photovoltaic (PV) farm to Concord Green Energy Inc. BowMont Capital and Advisory served as financial advisor to the clean energy unit of Canadian real estate investor Concord Pacific Developments Inc.
“The closing of this loan demonstrates Canadian Solar’s marketability and respect amongst financial institutions,” chairman and CEO, Shawn Qu, noted. The firm has one of the highest bankability approval ratings on the solar market globally, he added.
