Brazil’s Minas Gerais gives installations license to 300-MW PV project
July 12 – Brazil’s Minas Gerais has granted an installation license to a 300-MW photovoltaic (PV) project, the state government said on Monday.
The Usina Solatio Brasil Gestao de Projetos Solares Ltda project will be implemented in the city of Pirapora, divided in 10 PV parks of 30 MW each. The project is calling for a total investment of BRL 6 billion (USD 1.8bn/ EUR 1.6bn), which also includes the transmission line, maintenance areas and substation construction expenses.
Receiving an installation license marks the second step of the permitting process for the PV scheme. The third step is getting an operating license, which in this case concerns the distribution network.
Aside from the job creation, the Pirapora government says the project will result in an increase in revenues from tax, such as the tax on services (ISS) applied on the construction and operation of the plant.
