Brazil’s Lica to build 612 MWp of PV parks in Tocantins
September 4 – Brazilian firm Lica Energias Renovaveis plans to invest USD 740 million (EUR 664m) in three photovoltaic (PV) parks of 612 MWp total, in Tocantins state.
Company executives met yesterday with government representatives to discuss plans for the parks. Lica’s proposal is for 17 solar plants at three municipalities. More details are available in the table below.
Juan Antonio Martin, Lica’s president, said they already have the project and the areas ready for the installation of plants set. The company is now awaiting the environmental license as well as the November 13 reserve energy auction. Once the project is secured in the tender, Lica expects the parks to commence operation in 2018.
The state economic development undersecretary Jose Carlos Bezerra, said Tocantins is keen to grow its solar energy sector. The local government has been working on laws that will boost its attractiveness for developers.
