BayWa sells 27-MWp UK solar farm to Munich Re
January 22 – BayWa re renewable energy GmbH, a unit of Germany’s BayWa AG, has sold a 27-MWp solar park in the UK to MEAG, the asset manager of German reinsurer Munich Re (FRA:MUV2).
The deal, whose value was not disclosed, closed on December 31, BayWa re said on Thursday.
The Lynt Farm solar array is located in the region of Oxford and was completed by BayWa re last year. The facility was commissioned in March 2015 and is accredited to the Renewables Obligation Certificates (ROCs) scheme. The solar farm has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with McDonald’s Restaurant Ltd.
The renewable energy company also said yesterday it planned to complete 130 MW of solar projects in the UK before the end of March. At the same time, it is looking for projects of below 5 MW for completion during 2016 and 2017.
