Australia’s Genex gets enviro nod for 50-MW phase I of Kidston solar
May 6 – Australian company Genex Power Ltd (ASX:GNX) on Thursday said it has received environmental approval for the initial 50-MW stage of its 150-MW Kidston solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the state of Queensland.
Along with recent development approval and freehold land acquisition, all other material approvals and titles are now in place to enable construction, the company added.
Genex is developing a pumped-storage hydropower plant and the 150-MW solar park, together the Kidston Project, at a disused mine site in northern Queensland.
In March, it said it has shortlisted two companies in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender for the 50-MW first phase of the solar park. It said then it expected the feasibility study for the first stage to be completed by the end of June and construction to start in 2017.
