Arizona Public Service seeks builder for up to 40 MW of PV
October 2 – US power utility Arizona Public Service (APS) on Thursday disclosed the issue of a request for proposals (RFP) for the installation of as much as 40 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity in the state.
The utility, a unit of Pinnacle West Capital (NYSE:PNW), started the RFP on October 1. It invites interested solar system developers and installers to a web seminar on October 14.
If the bids prove competitive and the project is set forward, APS will own and operate the PV plant upon its completion. As for the output of the large-scale park, the company plans to explore partnerships with both commercial and industrial customers, a number of which have already have expressed interest in buying the electricity.
“Similar to the construction of APS’s other large-scale solar plants, this new facility will be built to maximize solar production efficiently and cost effectively,” the Phoenix-based firm pointed out in the press release. The proposed projects must use commercially-proven solar technology, it added.
