January 9 – AES Distributed Energy Inc (AES DE), a unit of US power group AES Corp (NYSE:AES), last week announced the start of construction of a 11.3-MW direct current (DC) solar portfolio in California.
AES DE is the long-term owner and operator of the portfolio, which includes four projects — a 1.4-MW site in the city of Delano, a 1.3-MW one in Manteca and two projects, of 7.1 MW and 1.5 MW, in Bakersfield.
The company is partnering with ImMODO Energy Services Corp, which will provide design, engineering, procurement and construction services, as well as operations and maintenance services. The facilities are expected to be completed by August this year.
The partners also announced the commissioning of the 2-MW Lemoore 1 solar project in the city of Lemoore in the state.
AES DE has 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Pacific Gas and Electric Co (PG&E) to provide energy for the latter’s Solar Choice programme, under which residents and businesses in northern and central California can go solar without installing solar panels.
