Japan Asia Investment breaks ground on 2-MW PV plant
July 29 – Tokyo-based Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (TYO:8518) said today it has started building a 1.99-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Ibaraki prefecture.
The solar park will cost about JPY 850 million (USD 8.2m/EUR 7.3m) to construct. The project is a partnership with local firm Smart Solar Corp, according to the company’s press release.
The PV park will be able to produce some 2.91 million kWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the annual demand of about 800 local households. When completed, around January 2017, its output will be sold to local utility Tokyo Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9501).
The company has achieved in its solar power portfolio a total capacity of 103 MW, including projects in the planning stage, it noted in the statement.
