to-the-point Peru’s wind solar output rises 87.4% y/y in June
July 29 – Peru’s Ministry of Energy announced that in June the country’s wind and solar energy output surged by 87.4% year-on-year to 111 GWh.
Thermal plants increased their production by 14.5% to 2,367 GWh last month. Hydropower plants (HPP) generation, on the other hand, decreased by 7% on the year to 1,678 GWh. The decline is due to the lack of rain, the government said.
Peru’s total power generation for June was at 4,156 GWh, a 5.7% increase from the previous year.
During the first six months of the year, the country produced 25,789 GWh.
