Singulus narrows EBIT loss in 2015
Feb 5, 2016 13:17 CET
February 5 – Singulus Technologies AG (ETR:SNG) on Thursday reported preliminary 2015 figures showing a negative EBIT of EUR 33 million (USD 37m) to EUR 35 million amid continued weakness in its Optical Disc segment and better showing of the Solar division.
The result, which is still an improvement on the negative earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of EUR 49.1 million in 2014, was hit by write-offs in the disc business and other restructuring charges. On an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) basis, Singulus’ loss ranges from EUR 26 million to EUR 28 million, against a loss of EUR 24.1 million in the previous year.
The sale of the German company, which supplies machinery for the making of solar cells, optical discs and semiconductors, grew to EUR 84 million from EUR 66.8 million in 2014. Order intake also increased to EUR 96 million from EUR 60 million and the order backlog at the end of 2015 was EUR 26 million, up from EUR 14 million a year earlier.
Singulus said that the order intake, sales and the EBIT in the Solar division all increased compared with the previous year.
