Ceara in Brazil gives prelim enviro license for 2 MW solar
November 26 – Ceara’s state superintendency of environment Semace gave on Wednesday preliminary licenses for two solar projects of 1 MW each.
Ceara Energy Group Industria de Paineis Fotovoltaicos Ltda is the company behind both projects. The solar arrays are based in the municipalities of Acopiara and Guaraciaba do Norte.
The preliminary licenses only attest to the environmental feasibility of the projects and do not give the go-ahead for the start of construction works and ground interventions. In order to begin construction, the company will have to wait for Semace’s installation licenses.
The two solar farms will occupy an area of approximately 2.5 hectares (6.1 acres). With 4,000 solar panels per system, the government estimates the solar arrays will have enough power to meet the needs of 500 local homes each.
