Kyocera start construction of 27 MW PV park in Fukushima
September 16 – Japan’s Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971) announced today its unit Kyocera Solar Inc broke ground on a 27-MW solar power plant in Fukushima prefecture.
The Fukushima Tabito mega solar power plant, located near Iwaki city, has an expected annual output of more than 32 million kWh. According to Kyocera’s estimates, the plant could supply the consumption of some 10,000 local households. Commissioning of the plant is scheduled forĀ September 2019.
The solar plant is being build at a former golf course site, with 100,016 of Kyocera’s 270-W solar cell modules. Japanese firm Kyudenko Corp (TYO:1959) is in charge of the design and construction, while local utility Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc will purchase the power output.
Since its establishment in August 2012, Kyocera TCL Solar LLC has a 49.1-MW portfolio of operational solar power plants spread across 27 locations in Japan.
