Portugal Ourique city to break ground on 46 MW PV plant
August 24 – Portuguese renewable energy company Prosolia Portugal will start construction works on a 46-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in Ourique municipality by the end of the year, local media report.
The solar park will be built in the Grandaços region and its annual output is estimated at 80 GWh, about four times the county annually consumption.
The developer has already obtained the necessary project licenses by the General Directorate for Energy and Geology as well as the local government.
According to a statement of the local government, quoted by local media, this will be the first PV park in Europe to be implemented without the use of any subsidies or feed-in tariffs. The solar energy generated by the power plant can be sold on the national market or exported, depending on the current EU legislation.
