Renewables bring 30.7% of Spain’s power in July
July 31 – Spain’s renewable power plants supplied 30.7% of the country’s electricity in July, according to data released today by national grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE).
The country wind power output for the month fell 14.1% year-on-year to 3,083 GWh, slicing a 12.9% share in overall power generation.
Other renewable sources such as hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) achieved a 8.5% share in total power generation, while solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) parks accounted for 3.7% and 3.8%, respectively.
Gross power demand in mainland Spain went up by 11.2% year-on-year to 23,477 GWh. In calendar- and temperature-adjusted terms, it went up by 5.4% on the year.
